Ashmans secure an impressive acquittal after Trial for a client accused of Rape.

Our client was a student without any previous convictions who had attended a festival with friends and engaged in sexual intercourse with a female he had met. It was conceded she was under the influence of both drink and drugs and the issue, therefore, was consent.

She alleged that she was raped and asserted she did not have the capacity to offer consent as a result of the amount of drink and drugs she had consumed and was therefore taken advantage of by our client who disputed the same.

Ashmans ensured that our client was fully prepared so that he was able to present his evidence in the clearest possible manner and further carefully cross-examined the complainant so that Jury could see the truth, which was reflected in them returning a unanimous verdict of not guilty.
